Basketball as an Exercise
Walking, jogging, running or swimming is a great way to exercise because it forces you to use all your muscles at the same time. Doing something like this instead of targeting specific areas will considerably reduce exercise times. To alleviate the boredom or repetitiveness of the activity, you can try playing highly physical games like boxing, football, soccer or basketball.

Most men exercise to add muscle mass instead of losing weight. The more you use your body in a very physical manner, the more your body would adapt itself to the needed mass so that you can keep on performing again and again. While area specific exercises are more intensive than general exercise, like basketball, it can be boring. Playing a game like basketball will certainly add spice to what most people see as an activity full of drudgery and hardship.

Playing basketball is a great way to exercise. Shooting hoops not only physically trims your own body, but those of your hoop mates as well. Aside from having fun playing the game, interacting with people as well as meeting the challenge of winning acts as great motivators in continuing to play the game on and on  until playing basketball becomes a habit.

Personally speaking, I found myself to have less of a rounded belly while I was actively playing basketball. It certainly won't tone your abs the way abs intensive exercises do, but at least, you won’t have that barrel of a belly sticking out of your abdomen. Also, because the tendency is to labor and sweat profusely while playing basketball, a lot of fat is burned while calories are converted into energy. Just be sure to have water with you to replace the fluids that you shed while playing basketball.

If you haven't really been a fan of basketball but can see the advantages of using it as an exercise routine, watch some games before you start to learn about the rules of the game. The basics of basketball are pretty easy to learn. You can even put up a basketball hoop over your garage so you can practice shooting and movement before you start playing in a team. If you have a kid, so much the better. You and your kid and some of his friends can play basketball games together. Playing basketball this way will serve three purposes. First is the bonding opportunity with your children, second is the exercise it provides your body, and the third is the entertainment value it can give yourself.

Instead of just doing those exercise routines alone, why not play sports like basketball. It has definitely more advantages than just interacting with machines. You don't have to pay for exorbitant gym fees or buy expensive equipment either for exercising. Just put on those sneakers, jog on over to the park and meet your team.
